Interview special : How to handle Rapid Fire Round.

On the morning of our interview day , we get ready in formal dress. Nice light colour shirt , Dark Trousers , Matching neck tie , Some go for blazer / suit , Polished shoes , Groomed Hairs , Clean Shave and few pages of your notes to revise ( i actually do not know what they read with high mounted pressure on head) but everyone has their own comfort zone .

The most interesting incidents happen inside waiting room. It's like our heart is on the roller coaster. Several thing running in mind like when my chest number will be called? What IO will going to ask ? .... and when some one came back from from their interview than all of the other candidates started asking " kya poocha IO ne"? Bhai detail main bata? How's his mood? etc etc... and if your friend told something that you do not know than you will start searching the answer of that particular question like anything...

We generally start discussing with our friends in waiting room questions like - Tell me the names of few fighter and transport aircraft ? About Chopper's ? Different base station's and Headquarters of IAF? on Current Affairs etc etc...

In nut shell most of us gets very nervous before the interview, and when our chest number is called than it's like " Bhagwan bas is baar bacha lena ...Plz plzzzz plzzzzzz"  and if they are freshers than they keep on asking with repeaters that what's happen inside? And repeater's can only say one thing... jaa andar sab pata chal jayega.( when you'l get inside , you will know each and everything)

I mean you can understand what is the true pleasure of relief once your interview is done. After your interview only two replies can be possible when your friends asks , "how was your interview" .... either you reply " bhai  bure karmo ka fhal isi janam mein chakna padta hai and i tasted it in my interview " or " Mast tha... my chances are brighter"  ..... but no one actually knows what's going to happen....

Why most of the candidates spoiled their interview ?

The main reason is their nervousness. We all get nervous that's a natural concept but the key reside's on how to overcome this nervousness. When you get inside the room for interview and once you start replying , you get comfortable with the situation and IO. IO generally start with rapid fire round. They will ask 10 to 15 questions in a single go and ask you to reply one by one starting with the first question. This process is generally to check your confidence level and to know your true behaviour in paramount pressure.

When you start replying he will ask counter question's also and after few conversation he will ask you to continue. So before entering the room your are nervous , rapid fire questions of IO make you more nervous and at last you come out with disappointment .

You know friends this nervousness is the biggest problem. If you are confident than you will rock in your interview even if you do not answer few GK/GS questions, because today you do not know the answers but once you read  and problem is solved. In the academy they can teach you about academic subjects but they can't teach to you get confidence and other qualities which you have to develop by your own's effort.

How to tackle rapid fire round?

Do not ever count question's neither on your fingers nor in your mind but try to portray the picture of question's which IO is asking. Mostly the questions in rapid fire round are -

1. Tell me about your percentage's starting from 10th standard to the highest qualifications with name of school/ college.
2.Tell me the names of all the subject which you have studied in your graduation? Which was your favourite subject and why?
3. Who was ur best teacher in school and college and why?
4. How many times you got punishment?
5.What is your hobby?
6.Two positive qualities of your self?
7. Two positive qualities of your father?
8. Who is your best friend and tell positive and negative point of your friend?
9. Where is the HQ of Indian army  , Central command?
10.What you love to read?
etc....

As you can see IO is just asking your introduction but in a different manner. So their is nothing to get nervous. In our college we generally gave intro to our seniors so what's new in it?

Take a paper and write all such question's about you which IO can ask in a rapid fire. Repeater's must be knowing it very well such questions. After writing all such question's perform one exercise which i am explaining below.

1. In every cell phones there is a function of voice recording. Record all the questions, like IO generally ask in a rapid fire.
2. Sit in front  of a mirror and play the recording listen all the questions carefully and after that start replying one by one from starting. While replying if you think that IO can ask a counter question on any of your reply than reply to that counter - question also. Record your reply also. ( This recorder facility is for those who are all alone in their preparation , If your friend or family member can ask those question's than it will be good)
3. Ask your friends to tell you whether you have given replies in a correct order or not / check your recording for the same thing.
4. Repeat the procedure again and again . Every time change the sequence of questions so that you can prepare your self in a correct manner. While replying your prime motive should be,  to reply with full confidence and follow the correct sequence.

We do not know which question IO can ask first ..He can start with your percentages or He can start with your family questions so prepare your self by various recordings with different question patterns.

I know this process will sound little difficult to you. In starting you are going to phase many problems but believe me guys this is a tested and result oriented procedure. It will enhance your concentration power also. Just honestly perform this exercise for 20 - 30 days and if you get caught into any trouble than we will discuss on that.

Some IO will make you first comfortable and than start asking this question ( wo kehte hain na ..pyaar se marna...)  specially in Air force and Navy ...... In Army the Brigadier or Major General directly start asking questions like AK-47. So it's better to prepare your shield and kevlar to protect you. If you will come out with rapid fire round successfully than it will give you immense confidence and you will feel it. Confidence is the key to qualify interview and this confidence will come with study and successfully phasing out your fears.

“If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.”

    1. Not at all , Mayank. Every body does that. IO will not fail anyone for particularly this reason. Even IO also forget few questions which he had asked to you.

  3. At the time of Air Force SSB interview. Do interviewer stress more on technical questions as i am from computer science engineering field.Though i have attended SSB for number of times but still was having a doubt in my head so thought to clarify it.
Reason behind getting bit worried is that i am preparing for UPSC exam since last 2 years and hope you know well that getting away from the field for this much span is like having a very vague knowledge about the field. Do clarify about this bro .

    1. If you are preparing for UPSC / IAS than why CDS??? i mean they both have very very different job profile.
And No , Interviewer never stress too much on technical questions. You have completed your graduation in it so they can ask few basic questions.. That's it

    1. Asmita you have to write story on the basis of what you perceive by watching the slide . you can perceive anything. Very soon i will write for that . I hope that will clear your doubt and one more thing you will never know for what reason they recommended you or for what reason they rejected you. You can only for perform your duty. Rest leave on them. OK. All the very best.
