As you all know AFCAT is conducted twice in a year. One for July course and other for January course.
July course - Written exam is conducted in the month of August. Generally on 25th/26th of August. After qualifying your written examination , you go for SSB , after getting recommended from SSB you go for medical and after declared medically FIT . You keenly wait for the merit list. I want to represent a data to you which will give you an idea about how many candidates got merit-out in the last satge for july course.
Bitter truth :
AFCAT 02/2011 AFCAT 02/2012
AE(L)(M&W) 89 84
AE(M)(M&W) 26 34
ADMIN (M&W) 64 35
LOGISTICS(M&W) - 67
EDUCATION(M&W) - 7
As you can see the number of merit-out candidates is very high. Meirt is prepared on the basis of your written and SSB marks. Getting recommended in SSB is a big thing , Scoring high in SSB is not up to you. You have performed your best in the SSB .
If you want to get into main merit list than my dear ones perform very well in your written examination.
January Course - January course is safer than July course. Generally no one gets merit-out for January course.
Why this "Kolaveri Dee" for July course -
The reason is UES entry. Candidates who join forces via UES entry also get admitted into the academy in july course only. Even they give exam of AFCAT twice in a year but they can only join in July Course.
So it's clear. Number of seats are limited but the number of candidates to get admitted is very high for july cousre. So a chunk of candidates gets merit-out.

Vaibhav i think you are for july course. Can't say anything about merit. It completely depends upon your performance in written , SSB and the number of seats in AE(M). Wish you good luck.
