Those who got recommended for flying are indeed going to enjoy their training in Indian Air Force Academy.
You all are really the lucky one's not because you got recommended but because you are going to be trained in newly inducted trainee aircraft SWISS PILATUS PC - 7.
PILATUS PC - 7 will replace HPT-32 / DEEPAK. Indian Air Force needs to train 400 rookie pilots every year before they gradually take to flying fighter planes.
With air safety and lives of young pilots being prime concern - about 200 pilots lost their lives in nearly 500 crashes since 1970 - the IAF began looking for a trainer aircraft after the HAL( Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) built HPT - 32 was discarded owing to poor safety and increasing number of accidents , and now the search is over the beautiful PILATUS PC -7.
PILATUS PC- 7
IAF placed an order for 75 pilatus PC-7s . In comparison to pilatus , HAL's HTT- 40 trainer aircraft was still a project in the planning stages.
In May 2009 the IAF decided to to bid goodbye to HPT -32 which has been in service since 1985 and suffered several fatal crashes.
HPT - 32
At present 15 Pilatus trainers, already inducted and were taking care of 70-80 trainee pilots at a time.
" During the last decades , The HAL has indigenously developed 15 types of aircraft and helicopters. Around 1250 of these indigenous aircraft have been produced. The major aircraft/ helicopters produced from indigenous design include Marut, Ajeet, Kiran Mk.I, Kiran Mk.II, LCA, IJT,and advanced light helicopter( ALH)"
Pilot is more important than air craft . Aircraft is just a machine . A talented pilot is required to utilize that machine and that is what India Air Force Academy does. A live example is Marshal of IAF Arjan Singh, DFC who still is THE BEST PILOT with Maximum Flying Hours.
